Paul Dion Quartet at Thredbo Jazz Festival . I’m happy to say that local musicians will be represented at this years’ Thredbo Jazz Festival. Many Jindy-ites for example think of Merimbula is their back yard. I mention this because apart from myself playing Keys/Vocal/Reeds (Jindabyne), the quartet comprises Steve Clark on Guitar (Candelo), Dave Crowden on Bass (Bega) and Ken Vatcher on Drums (Malacoota). Well perhaps Malacoota is stretching it a bit far a field but Ken has been Vince Jones’ drummer when Vince also lived in Malacoota for two years. A fact that indicates to the jazz lovers out there that his musical standard is right up there with the best. We’ll be presenting a mix of jazz standards and original compositions for the more adventurous listeners and if you’d like to catch us at Thredbo this year we’ll be appearing at: House of ULLR 3.30pm Sat 6th May, T Bar Restaurant 12.00pm, and Sante Restaurant 8.00pm Sun 7 th May. For more details and full program details visit www.thredbo.com.au.

DANCING UNDER THE STARS
The 3 rd of June is a good date for The Jindabyne Lion’s Club Charity Ball because it was the only free date in “The Jive Bombers” busy schedule when I spoke with bandleader Peter Morand late last year. Known as “the best

party band on the circuit” I can personally guarantee that June the 3 rd will be a real blast!Yours truly will be providing dinner jazz and some warm-up dance music to get proceedings under way. This will be followed by a short cabaret show to allow the Asian Banquet to settle then dance your socks off through to 1.30am with the award winning Sydney show/dance band “The Jive Bombers”.
The Jindabyne Lions Club will be running the bar with a selection of red and white wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks at reasonable prices. This is not a BYO event. Coffee and tea will also be available. All you need to bring is your dancing shoes and a ball dress if you’re a woman, or a tuxedo or lounge suit if you’re a man.
For anyone wanting ballroom dancing instruction (or practise), Ballroom Basics will be held on the three Sundays prior to the 3 rd of June at 3pm in the Jindabyne Memorial Hall. The cost is $5 per person per lesson.
To take the worry out of having to drive after a good night out a bus can be organised for you with pick-up and drop off locations at Berridale, East Jindabyne, Dalgety, Thredbo etc. The service is dependant upon sufficient interest and the cost will also depend on numbers but would not exceed $20 per person per return trip. If you would like to take advantage of this service please mention it when ordering tickets, which by the way cost $70each.
